Reset

Hi long lost friends! Welcome back to the blog. I am in the final hours of our winter break from school and I am so grateful for the past two weeks with family and friends. It has been a tremendous blessing.

I am currently in the midst of starting my goal setting for the year, which I have done for the past several years through Lara Casey’s Make It Happen series. Her book, Make it Happen, hit shelves nationwide on December 30 and I have loved reading it. I am just beginning the  action guide for goal setting, so I will be blogging more about that in the next few weeks. I have had the opportunity this week to rest, refocus, and have great conversations with Zach and the Lord about what is in store for 2015.   I am excited to begin putting ideas in writing as I flesh out exactly what I am hoping for in 2015.

Sometime this week I will be sure to post a reflection about 2014, which was an awesome year in which I learned so much about myself, marriage, teaching, and, more than anything, the goodness and faithfulness of God.

You may have noticed that the blog has gotten a bit of a makeover. I have been overjoyed with our wedding photos by the lovely Erica Berry and wanted to incorporate them into the blog. I also wanted to make sure I set the tone for myself in my writing by focusing on the JOY that God has given us that we just need to capture in our heart. I can’t promise that my writing will always be happy– I feel like vulnerability is valuable here– but I do hope to always reflect the love and grace of Jesus here.

God has really been stirring in my heart over the past two weeks about changes I need to make in my life in order to be the best version of myself for His purpose and calling on my life. That’s the beauty of taking time to be still– God’s voice is so clear and evident in the stillness. There’s no question about what He has spoken over my life and that is why I am so excited to apply that into my vision and goals for 2015.

I cannot wait to walk through 2015 with this blog and actually documenting it here. I hope you will check in from time to time to see what’s going on and, as always, I hope whatever you read will be an encouragement to you. This post is titled “reset” with the idea that not only am I resetting the blog with a new name and look, but I am also resetting myself in the new year, resting in the promise that God makes all things new.

I want to leave you with a question (well, two) and I am looking forward to reading your answers! Feel free to comment below or on whatever social media outlet you are reading this through.

What are you most looking forward to in 2015 and what is one change you hope to make in your life?

  1. I’m looking forward to a year of unknowns. I have no idea what to expect. With Ryan starting a new position at work, my business just blossoming and Matthew ever changing it should be a fun year. Also, I’m hoping to be better organized and have better time management.
