Fab Five 001

Our friend Emily has an awesome blog about family and motherhood that I love to read. She posts beautiful pictures and hilarious stories about her boys, Gideon and Nolan, and is really honest about life as a stay-at-home mama and all that their life entails. She and her husband Taylor are precious to us– in fact, Taylor officiated our wedding so beautifully and they did our premarital counseling. While Zach and I aren’t planning on growing our family anytime soon, I still love reading about their sweet family now that they live an eternity away (I exaggerate) in South Carolina.

I love this picture of the four of us from our wedding day. One of my favorite moments from the day is actually when they told us a secret- they were pregnant with Nolan! Such an exciting moment!

One of her regular blog posts is “Five on Friday” featuring five of her current favorite items, exciting upcoming events, etc. I love posts like this because they allow me to peruse what’s new since I typically don’t have time to discover on my own.

In my effort to make time for myself, for discovery, and for writing, I’m taking a page out of Emily’s book (with her blessing) and writing a weekly feature on things I’m finding, enjoying, and seeking. I would love to hear what you are finding too, so feel free to share in the comments!

This is one of my favorite hairstyles that Kate models. I can't wait for my hair to grow out so I can try it!

1. The Small Things Blog. I love that Kate is a Raleigh resident who is passionate about sharing tips on upcoming beauty products, style, and more for the everyday woman. Because, let’s be real, no matter what magazines say, their tips, tricks, and products are still mostly way out of my price range or not at a store nearby. You have probably used one of her awesome hair tutorials on Pinterest without knowing who she is. She’s definitely worth checking out. Her Instagram and Facebook are also great.

IKEA's website shows these handy containers storing spices, paper clips, and more. So many possibilities!

2. These IKEA Grundtal containers. Yes, I’m lame. But I’m so excited about how versatile these are for my classroom. I’m losing a lot of storage space in my class next year, so these will be detrimental in keeping my stuff organized and my OCD brain calm. The best part- they will stick to my whiteboard and they have lids. I could also see these coming in handy on a refrigerator or in a bathroom. (Loose bobby pins, anyone?)

3. The Emily Ley Academic Planner. This doesn’t come out until May 6th (less than one month to go!), but I’m drooling over it in the meantime. I love my traditional calendar Emily Ley planner and have used one for the past two years. Her focus is on creating products full of  joy and simplicity that make life easier for everyone. I am so thrilled she’s coming out with an academic edition for students and teachers. It’s going to be fabulous. I will have an updated link posted once the product is live.

4. Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream  aka Heaven on your face- truly. I love this stuff. I first read about it on the Emily Ley blog, but it was originally recommended by Kate Bryan from The Small Things blog. Nice callback, right? This was the perfect face cream for me in the winter when I have really dry skin, but it is also light enough for spring/summer. This was the first winter in years that I didn’t feel like my face was peeling away. This product is a keeper.

5. Lindsay Letter’s Spring + Summer Collection.

I have been a fan of Lindsay Sherbondy for quite a while but I have not purchased any of her art to date. I’m hoping to change that in the coming months as we finally tackle the huge white wall in our apartment. This season’s look book features some of her best work yet, but I have a few favorites. This 1 Corinthians 13  canvas is dreamy and I love the Love, Imagine, Play print for an office space. I also can’t help but swoon over the Eat Things that Grow canvas tote and the More Water tumbler. What can I say? I’m a sucker and I like pretty things.

What are you into lately? I’d love to know!
