In an effort to be more active on the blog in 2018, I’m bringing back the Friday Five. The basic idea is that I share five things each week that I’ve found and love so that you can explore them, too!
Girl, Wash Your Face.
Rachel Hollis’ latest book, Girl, Wash Your Face, debunks the lies we tell ourselves every day and gives encouragement and practical tips on how to get our joy back. She’s funny, she’s real, and she’s lived through circumstances that allow her to provide worthwhile advice. I listened to the audiobook this week during my commute and I loved it.
If you’re interested, Barnes & Noble has an exclusive Hustlers edition with an extra chapter. Grab it before they run out!
Lunch time yoga
I have two 2018 goals that I’ve been pushing myself toward more and more lately:
establish healthy patterns and practice self care. (Easier said than done, by the way.)
One of the benefits of working at Red Ventures is that I get to utilize their gym equipment after work. This week, I also tagged along with a coworker to the lunchtime yoga class and I loved it. I got in my workout and returned to my desk in such a relaxed state of mind.
The Cali Benny at Famous Toastery
Ever since removing gluten and dairy from my diet, finding meals I enjoy at restaurants has been an adventure. Luckily, there are places like Famous Toastery that have tons of options for people with food sensitivities.
My favorite find so far? The Cali Benny. It’s a modified version of eggs benedict: poached eggs, avocado, tomato, gluten-free toast, and hollandaise with breakfast potatoes.
I’ve had it twice in the past two weeks and I’m not sorry.
This baby announcement
Last week, Laura Bailey & Travis Willingham announced they are having a baby. If those names aren’t familiar to you, they are two voice actors you hear more often than you know, and they are part of the Critical Role cast. With our love for D&D, Zach and I both thought it was the cutest thing! (Disclaimer: we’re not pregnant.)
It’s probably an overstatement to say that an app changes your life, but it feels like this app has changed mine. I stumbled on AnyList in December, and I’ve been curating recipes there ever since. There’s nothing more convenient than having your meal plan and recipes in the same app… until I tell you that Zach and I can both access it across devices. (See? Life changing.)
